该规范将母婴护理师岗位分为初级、中级和高级三个等级，级别越高，要求月嫂掌握的技能越高。如同样是煲汤，初级母婴护理师，要掌握5种以上营养汤的制作方法;中级要求掌握7种以上;到了高级阶段，就要求会10种以上营养汤的制作。此外，中级母婴护理师还要懂得帮产妇做形体恢复操，进行产后褥汗护理等。高级母婴护理师还要求做好产妇的心理疏导工作，调节好产妇的情绪，会催乳，月子餐等。
